PRAGUE (AP) — František Janouch, a Czech nuclear physicist who set up a foundation in Sweden while in exile to support the dissident movement in his communist homeland at the time, has died. The Charter 77 Foundation said Janouch died on Friday morning in Sweden's capital, Stockholm, where he had lived since the 1970s. Born on Sept. 22, 1931 in the town of Lysa nad Labem near Prague, Janouch studied nuclear physics at Charles University in Prague and at universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg in the then Soviet Union. But researchers have found that women in foraging societies were often the ones bringing home the bacon (and other prey, too). Of the 63 foraging communities examined, 50 had records documenting women hunting. Women hunted game of all sizes, “with large game pursued the most,” the study authors reported. Women also used specialized tools: In the Philippines, for example, Agta women hunted with knives, bows and arrows, or a combination of the two weapons, depending on personal preference. In many of the groups, it seemed as though women had a more flexible approach to hunting than men did, Wall-Scheffler said.

În perioada 29 iunie – 9 iulie 2021, la Academia de Studii Economice a Moldovei se desfăşoară workshop-ul despre problemele de demografie și geodemografie, organizat în parteneriat cu Charles University din Praga (CUNI), Republica Cehă. Scopul principal al atelierului este de a efectua o evaluare a nevoilor și capacităților profesionale din domeniul statisticii populației, cercetării demografice, educației și instruirii profesionale în aceste domenii. Formatul evenimentului este conceput pentru a facilita schimbul de cunoștințe științifice și experiență practică și a evalua rezultatele colaborării obținute în perioada 2013-2021 și durabilitatea acestora. Evenimentul contribuie la menţinerea şi consolidarea reţelei de experți naționali și serveşte drept o platformă de comunicare pentru coordonarea activităților științifice, pedagogice și practice în domeniul dezvoltării populației. La deschiderea evenimentului, cu mesaj de salut a fost prezent Rectorul ASEM, dr.hab., prof.univ., academician, Grigore BELOSTECINIC şi dr. Tomáš Kučera, CUNI.
